EWR Charbridge Lane, Bicester

Notification of Works

East West Rail have notified us of their intention to close Charbridge Lane under the Transport Works Act to enable the tie in and construction of the new bridge slip road.

The closure will take place from Monday 17 October 2021 until Friday 17 December 2021

During this period access will be maintained to Langford Village estate and the distribution and commercial premises up to Charbridge Way. Launton roundabout remains open.

HGV traffic travelling south on the A4421/A421 will be diverted via the A43 and M40 as will those using the B4100, with reverse for northbound. Lorry warning signs will be placed on Southwold Lane and Lords Lane and at the entrance to Launton to deter as much HGV traffic as possible. The normal traffic will be diverted via A41, B4030 Vendee Drive, A4095 Howes Lane, Lords Lane and Southwold Lane and reverse.

For information or queries about this closure please contact the EWR Helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or email contact@eastwestrail.co.uk

Closure to Charles Shouler Way

SMITH construction Charles Shouler

Dear Resident,

HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT WORKS – WENDLEBURY ROAD

Smith Construction have been engaged to carry out the ‘Section 278‘ highway improvement works associated with the Catalyst Development. These works include construction of a new roundabout at the junction of Charles Shouler Way with Wendlebury Road along with associated cycle and footways, street lighting and signage (please see attached drawings).

To date construction of the new roundabout has progressed ‘off–line‘ in order to minimise disruption to through traffic. However to enable us to complete construction of the ‘tie–in’ as quickly and safely as possible we need to close Charles Shouler Way temporarily. To this end a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) has been made to operate from 19 July 2021 up to and including 17 September 2021.

During this period you will still be able to travel in each direction along Wendlebury Road, via the partly constructed roundabout.

The diversion route associated with the closure of Charles Shouler Way is shown on the attached drawings and will be as follows:

To get from Wendlebury into Bicester there will be a short diversion north along Wendlebury Road to the Garden Centre where you will join the A41 southbound down to the roundabout (A41 / Charles Shouler Way / Vendee Drive) and then north along the A41 to Bicester as normal. Please see attached sketch which hopefully clarifies this route.

To get back from Bicester to Wendlebury the journey will be south along the A41 and join Wendlebury Road at the Garden Centre.

Traffic coming north along the A41 from the M40 will continue along the A41 to the roundabout junction with the B4030 Pringle Drive (Burger King), then south along the A41 and into Wendlebury Road as above.

The diversion will be signed as appropriate and agreed with O.C.C.

We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience during these roadworks.

Yours Sincerely

G.Scotney Director SMITH CONSTRUCTION GROUP LTD Encls

Great Wolf Appeal Result

Dear Wendlebury Residents,

THE GREAT WOLF RESULTS

It is now clear that the only way forward is for a judicial review but following Barry Wood’s contacts with Victoria Prentis it is clear that such reviews will only be permitted if certain criteria are met, the chief of which is any flaws in the process of the Inquiry,  Barry assures me, for what it is worth,  that he has David Peckford, Head of Planning and the legal team  working on this as a priority. At our end it will be helpful if you can identify and deficiencies in the process itself.  My personal view is that the role of OCC in this Inquiry left a lot to be desired over both consultation and content but you will understand this better than me.

I hope that you see this as a way of keeping you fully updated now that this is in the political dimension
