The village has been extremely saddened by the fatal incident by the bus stop on the A41 on Friday 10 August in which the car driver died and a pedestrian was injured.
The Parish Council has been working with Councillor Ian Corkin on receiving all the information about the incident, to ensure that the bus stops remain open and to put pressure on the County Council and other bodies to make the pedestrian crossing to the other side of the road much safer.
The bus service is very important to the village and Councillor Ian Corkin has requested figures from Stagecoach for the usage of the bus service.
It is important that a need for the service can be demonstrated.
Many villagers either have S5 season tickets or use the bus with their over 65 bus passes and these figures may not be recorded, which could lead to a false picture.
It is vital that the community puts forward solutions to make the dual carriageway crossing as safe as possible and ensure the bus stop is kept. What we do not want to happen is for Stagecoach to come back with a very low figure and use this to justify stopping the service.
