The Electoral Register is a list of everyone who is allowed to vote at election time. If you’re not on it, you won’t be allowed to vote and you will also not be able to put yourself forward as a Parish Councillor at the May elections.
So, if you’ve moved house recently, you’ll need to update your details. It only takes about five minutes and you’ll need your national insurance number.
More information is available on Cherwell District Council’s website at: https://www.cherwell.gov.uk/info/11/elections/319/electoral-register-and-registering-to-vote and the link to register to vote is a national Government website which then links back to the correct area – https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Cherwell will then write to your household once a year (usually in early autumn) to ask you to confirm the list of residents they have for your household; sometimes people don’t respond to that letter in time, so if you haven’t responded yet you’ll need to re-register.
Please do update your details and make sure that you are able to maintain your democratic right to vote.
